At FirstStep we believe that safety is the cornerstone of pleasant, successful dating. To make sure dating and chatting with new people brings you nothing but pleasure, follow these six simple rules.
Do not send money to other users. Even if someone insists they're in dire straits, it just isn't safe. If something goes wrong, there's nothing we can do to help. We have no way to cancel the transfer or find out where the money has gone. Do not send bank information (numbers and security codes of cards, accounts, etc.). If another user asks you for money or card info, report their profile and indicate this as the reason for your complaint.
Do not share personal information such as ID numbers, insurance policy information, or the exact address of your home or office. Also try to avoid revealing details about your daily life (such as travel plans) or the names, genders, or ages of your children to users you don't know well.
Watch out for scammers who insist they're from your country, but are stuck somewhere else, especially if they ask for financial assistance to get back home. Be careful when dealing with people you've never met in person or talked to on an audio or video call - these people could turn out to be someone other than who they say they are. If someone evades your questions, never takes your calls, or refuses to meet you, but still pushes for a serious relationship, this could be a sign that this person has bad intentions.
Chat on FirstStep until you get to know the person better. If you move to other platforms, you make it impossible for us to help you and punish scammers in the future. These are the people who are most likely to try to move to text messages, messengers, email, or phone conversation right away.
We never ask our users to email or text us the password to their FirstStep accounts. If you get an email or text message to this effect, contact us at support@firststepapp.com.
If you think another user is acting strangely or behaving in an offensive manner, notify us about it by selecting their profile and pressing the "Complain" button or contacting us at support@firststepapp.com.
